The Hierarchy Select Field is used for creating drop-down fields that support hierarchical data e.g. Operational Areas. This means that for a single Hierarchy Select field, multi-level hierarchy data is automatically supported without having to add different IndustraForm fields for each level.
In order to add one, select the Field Type of Hierarchy Select and then either Predefined Data Store or Database Table, as illustrated below:
Predefined Data Store: A list of options based on hierarchical data that have been predefined in the j5
Framework or application e.g. Operational Areas or Operations Logbook Categories.

When linking a logbook field to a Hierarchy Select IndustraForm field that uses a Predefined Data Store, only the top level of the hierarchy needs to be linked. For example, when linking a Hierarchy Select field to Areas, only the area1 field needs to be a ‘linked field’.

An Area field is locked to Hierarchy Select as its type.
Database Table: A list of options based on hierarchical data that is stored in a j5 database table. The Database Table Options Source will require you to provide the Table Name, ID Column, Parent ID Column and Label Column.
