Weld Connections

Each weld on the Weld table contains an associated connection key that specifies its connection.

Beam To Beam Weld Connections

You can add multiple welds to a single connection at different locations.

Connection (Primary End)

Connection (Secondary End)

Description

A1

A2

Specifies the weld connection at the end of the beam.

Use this connection if the Beam is directly welded to the End Plate or the vertical Plate or to the supporting structure.

B1

B2

Specifies the weld connection between the Clip and the Beam. Use this connection if a Beam Clip is part of the support and is welded to the Beam.

C1

C2

Specifies the weld connection for the Clip. Use this connection if the Clip is welded directly to the End Plate or vertical Plate, or to the supporting structure.

D1

D2

Specifies the weld connection for the End Plate. Use this connection if the End Plate is welded to the vertical Plate or the supporting structure.

E1

E2

Specifies the weld connection for the vertical Plate. Use this connection if the vertical Plate is welded to the supporting structure.

Weld Locations

Each connection has four predefined locations, 2, 4, 6, and 8. These locations are similar to cardinal points on a steel cross-section. The locations control the weld location in the Weld plane. You can also use the three offset rules to offset the weld from the predefined location. You can add additional locations as per your requirement. The location values are available in the hsFrameWeldLocation sheet of HS_S3DAssy_Codelist workbook.
