Standard Database for Smart Reference Data Version
2020 (12.0)

This Hangers and Supports library includes specially designed Rod Hanger supports. Use the Add, Modify, or Delete records in existing catalog mode in the Bulkload Reference Data tool to change the vendor parts used in the support. The SmartPart library for the specific vendors must be available in the catalog. When you place a new support, the new vendor parts are used. You must update the existing supports in the model for the parts to be available.

Rod Hanger Worksheet

The Rod Hangers are implemented using super-assemblies and sub-assemblies. The Rod Hanger assemblies are broken down into the following:

  • Top portion - parts between the rod and structure

  • Middle portion - applicable for springs

  • Bottom portion - parts between the pipe and the rod

Super-assemblies can use multiple combinations of the sub-assemblies to create multiple variations of hangers. The example listed in this section uses a Rigid Rod Hanger that has pipe clamp and an inverted welded beam attachment.

DDS_RR_Clamp Worksheet

The super-assembly worksheet contains general information as well as sub-assembly information for each assembly. The following image shows information of different parts:

Vendor Parts - DDS_RR_Clamp Worksheet Example

The above mentioned example uses the part DDS_RR_Clamp_07. The structure attachment used is DDS_RH-TOP-7 and the pipe attachment is DDS_RH-BOT-Clamp.

DDS_RH_TOP

The DDS_RH_TOP worksheet contains configuration for different parts.

SmartParts Worksheets

Hanger assemblies use SmartParts. For more information about SmartParts, see SmartPart Symbols Reference Guide.

Example

The following example illustrates how to change the Bergen Power & Generic parts that are used in hangers to PT&P SmartParts. The following table shows the part properties from the DDS_RH_TOP worksheet and also the part to use from PT&P library. You must manually determine the parts to use for replacement.

  1. The appropriate libraries must be loaded into the catalog.

  2. Equivalence tables are not available. However, some vendors provide equivalence chart with their catalog.

The following table shows the part properties from the DDS_RH_BOT worksheet and also the part to use from PT&P library.

Prefix the rows you want to change with M and use the Add, Modify, or Delete records in existing catalog mode to bulkload the workbook using the Bulkload Reference Data tool. For more information about how to modify or replace a part in a support, see Example for modifying the steel standard in Steel Standard Rules.

Before you swap the Burgen Power & Generic parts to PT&P parts, verify that the following PTP worksheets are available in the AdditionalDataFiles folder. These worksheets can be found on the Customer Support web site.
