On the Tools menu, set Maintain Relationships.

Select an element. You can also select the intersection of two elements to place a driving dimension.

On the Label or Dimension toolbar, select one of the following commands:

SmartDimension
-
Distance Between
-
Angle Between
The dimensions that you place are driving dimensions by default.

To change a driving dimension to a driven dimension, select a driving dimension and, on the ribbon, select Driving/Driven.

To set the colors for driving and driven dimensions, select the dimension and select Properties on the shortcut menu. Then set the options you want on the Properties dialog.
