Select an element.

Apply the formats you want to save as a style by setting the options you want on the ribbon.

On the ribbon, select the Style box to select the current style name of the element.

Type a new name to create a style using the formats applied to the element.

Press ENTER.
If you create a new style using the Style box on the ribbon, you cannot base the new style on any other style.
