When more than one initialization file exists for a user, those files are applied in a specific order, described in the table below.
Location of initialization files |
Description |
---|---|
Local registry settings |
Settings saved to the registry during a previous session. |
Local initialization (.ini) file(s) in the Custom directory |
Initialization files distributed at installation or added later. When multiple initialization files exist in this folder, they are applied in ascending order by name. For example, spm01.ini is applied first, followed by spm02.ini. If two or more applied files have contradictory values, the value in the last applied file takes precedence over previously applied files. |
Initialization (.ini) files specified with UNC path |
Initialization files in a folder available on the network specified by an initialization file in the Custom directory. When multiple initialization files exist in this folder, they are applied in ascending order by name. For example, spm01.ini is applied first, followed by spm02.ini. If two or more applied files have contradictory values, the value in the last applied file takes precedence over previously applied files. |
Initialization (.ini) file specified with URL path |
An initialization file available from a URL path specified by an initialization file in the Custom directory. |
