A tool can revise without publishing only if the SPFRevisions feature is turned on. See Options Dialog Box for more information.

  1. Click SmartPlant > Revise Document.

  2. Select a plant from the Select Plant or Project dialog box.

To run the SmartPlant Test Tool in non-UI mode, select the Use UI Specific to Test Tool option.

  3. Click OK.

If you run in non-UI mode, the Custom hierarchy option is not available.

  4. Select one or more documents from the Select Documents dialog box.

  5. Click OK.

If you chose to run the SmartPlant Test Tool in non-UI mode, the Test Tool automatically revises the documents you selected and a confirmation dialog box appears to report success or failure.

  6. For a new document or a document that does not yet have a defined revision scheme, select the revision scheme you want to use from the Revision Scheme list. If the selected document already has a defined revision scheme, this box is read-only.

Only revision schemes that are applicable to the selected document are available in the drop-down menu. Document configuration and classification items determine which revisions schemes are applicable.

  7. In the Revise in Tool section, select the next available major and minor revision numbers.

SHARED Tip Any revision numbers that are not available are skipped in the revision scheme, if applicable. For example, if the current version of the document is B and three revision numbers are shown as available for the document, the value displayed in this box is F.

  8. Click OK. The revised document is saved to the authoring tool database. The document currently available for retrieval by other authoring tools is not updated until you publish this revised document. The Revise command also reserves the revision number, if specified, in the integrated environment.

    • The current revisions of the tool will not be available in the Major and Minor list. You can select the current revisions of the tool only if they are not active.

    • If the Allow skipping revisions option is set to False on the Manage Integration Options dialog box in SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client, you are limited to which revisions you can select.
