Using the SmartPlant Client Debug Utility, you can enable detailed debug logging and specify locations for the software to place standard log files generated while performing integration tasks. When debug logging is enabled, the debug files are saved in folders in the user temp folder. The specific folder location is displayed in the SmartPlant Client Debug Utility dialog box.

For more information, see Enable Debug Logging.

Error Messages

Some errors that occur are displayed in an error dialog box. For more information, see SmartPlant Integration Error Messages.

Status Bar Information

SmartPlant Client Debug Utility contain debug information in the status bar.

  • The lower-right corner displays whether or not debug logging is enabled, and to what level.

    • Debug Off - Debug logging is not enabled.

    • Debug On - Complete debug logging is enabled.

    • Debug On (Partial) - Limited debug logging is enabled. One or more of the components or Debug Levels for the components are disabled.

Log File Path

The SmartPlant Client User Folder box in the SmartPlant Debug Logging utility allows you to specify where to have the software store log files generated during regular integration tasks.

  • If no path is specified in the SmartPlant Client User Folder box, the log files are generated in the user's temp directory.

  • During each session, two new folders are created inside the folder designed in this path. The names of both folders include "SPClient" and a time stamp when that folder was created. These folders will store all the log files generated during that session.

  • By default, the EFTestTool.mdb file is placed in the installation directory. However, if a path is provided in the SmartPlant Client User Folder box, this file is copied to that location when you launch the SmartPlant Client Test Tool the first time.
