  1. Register with an SmartPlant Foundation site. For more information, see Register a tool plant using the SmartPlant Test Tool.Net UI Command.

  2. Type the name of the project you want to connect to in the Project Name box, and click Connect.

    SHARED Tip If you change the name of the project in the Project Name box, the SmartPlant Test Tool will automatically connect to the project with that name in SmartPlant Foundation as soon as you click outside the box. If you delete the name of the project, the tool will automatically connect to the plant as soon as you click outside the box.

  3. If necessary, provide your SmartPlant Foundation user name and password to connect to SmartPlant Foundation. Once the connection is complete, the word "connected" will appear in the SmartPlant Foundation Test Tool status bar.

  • The project name in the SmartPlant Foundation Test Tool must match the name of the project in SmartPlant Foundation.

  • After you connect to a project, the following changes are made to the GUI:

    • The project name appears in the Project Name list for future use, but it appears disabled until you disconnect from the configuration.

    • The site URL, the plant name, and the project name appear in the status bar.
