Upgrade a Domain with As-Built and Project - Intergraph Smart Instrumentation - Installation & Upgrade - Hexagon PPM

When root Items claimed to a project get deleted in the project, they are listed in the Delete Items tab of the Project To Do List. Their related sub-items are deleted too but are not listed in the Delete Items tab.

Any sub-items deleted in the project before upgrading SmartPlant Instrumentation, will re-appear when you merge their parent items to As-Built, after the upgrade. This is because the software does not retain the deleted sub-items information, and after the upgrade they will show up in the As-Built. To retain the status of the deleted sub-items after the upgrade, you need to follow the steps below.

Before upgrading SmartPlant Instrumentation, open your project/s and merge any items that contain deleted sub-items. If you do not merge your project items before upgrading to the latest version of SmartPlant Instrumentation, in order to find them you should do the following:

1. Click Activities > Project Activities.

2. In the Project Activities dialog box, select the project you want to merge with As-Built.

3. Click Merge to open the Merge Buffer and the Project Explorer dialog boxes.

4. In the Project Explorer dialog box, right click the top folder, Project Explorer.

5. On the shortcut menu, select Comparison List.

6. In the Select Item Types for Comparison dialog box, select the items for which you want to generate a comparison.

7. Click OK to display the Comparison List dialog box.

8. From the For mode: select the Deleted check box.

9. Take notes of the list of the deleted items in order to find them after you upgrade.

10. Repeat step 4 to 9 for each item type with deleted sub-items.

11. After upgrading to SmartPlant Instrumentation 2016, perform the following:

    1. Open Domain Explorer on the Project.

    2. Merge the items that include deleted sub-items.

    3. Open Domain Explorer on the As-Built, locate the deleted items you marked in the notes, and manually delete them.

Release Claimed Items

It is not possible to release claimed items from a project after an upgrade to SmartPlant Instrumentation 2016. You should release any items before you upgrade to SmartPlant Instrumentation 2016
