If you are upgrading your database from Oracle 10g or 11g to Oracle 12c then you must initialize the 10g/11g to Oracle 12c. For this you must have two Oracle database server platforms:
-
Oracle 10g/11g 64-bit, where the old (source) database schema is located.
-
Oracle 12c 64-bit, the new target database.
-
After the SmartPlant Instrumentation 2016 upgrade make sure that both database versions match.
-
Configure the Oracle Net Manager of 12c 64-bit server database and the intools.ini file.
-
Connect to the Administration module, System Administration, and from the File menu click Initialize.
-
In the Source Data Connection dialog box, from the Database type list, select one of the following:
-
Oracle 10g
-
Oracle (for 11g)
-
-
Click OK.
