The following applies if you are using a version of the software before Update 33 and SmartPlant Markup Plus Server 2019 SP 1 or earlier. For the latest information, see File viewing problems.
Problem
You cannot view a non-Hexagon file using the View and Markup page.
Common Causes
You might encounter this problem because the user account running the Brava! and Blazon Enterprise services does not have:
-
Administrator privileges
-
Permissions to the dlcache share
-
Access to the CSF Writer printer
-
The account the Brava! Job Processor and Blazon Queue Server services are running with has an invalid user name and password.
If you are using a version prior to SmartPlant Markup Plus 2019 Service Pack 1, the job processor service is called Blazon Job Processor.
This problem might also occur if:
-
The Apache Tomcat service is not running on the SmartPlant Markup Plus server.
-
The server is unable to find a valid certification path. For assistance, see Configure SmartPlant Markup Plus Server to use SSL (retired).
Solution: Grant administrator privileges
The user account running the Brava! and Blazon Enterprise services must be a domain user with administrator privileges. For assistance with granting administrator privileges to users, see Microsoft Support.
If you are using separate user accounts to run the Brava! Job Processor and Blazon Queue Server services, both user accounts must be domain users with administrator privileges. If you are using a version prior to SmartPlant Markup Plus 2019 Service Pack 1, the job processor service is called Blazon Job Processor.
Solution: Grant permissions to the dlcache share
-
Log on to the SmartPlant Markup Plus server as an administrator.
-
Click Start > Administrative Tools > Computer Management.
-
Expand System Tools > Shared Folders > Shares.
-
Right-click the dlcache share and select Properties.
-
Click the Share Permissions tab.
-
Add the account running the Brava! and Blazon Enterprise services and give Full Control permissions.
If you are using separate user accounts to run the Brava! Job Processor and Blazon Queue Server services, you only need to add the user account running the Blazon Job Processor service. If you are using a version prior to SmartPlant Markup Plus 2019 Service Pack 1, the job processor service is called Blazon Job Processor.
-
Click the Security tab.
-
Add the account running the Brava! and Blazon Enterprise services and give Full Control permissions.

Solution: Grant access to the CSF Writer printer
The user account running the Brava! and Blazon Enterprise services must have access to the CSF Writer printer. To grant access, log on to the SmartPlant Markup Plus server as the user running the services. The operating system copies all available printers to the profile, including the CSF Writer.
If you still cannot view files using the View and Markup page, you might need to grant printer permissions to the user. For assistance, see Microsoft Support.
