The following applies if you are using a version of the software before Update 33 and SmartPlant Markup Plus Server 2019 SP 1 or earlier. For the latest information, see Comparing files using the viewer.
You can see the differences between two non-Hexagon files by comparing them in the Web Client.
You cannot compare files on a tablet or other mobile device.
Compare files

Search for the documents with attached files that you want to compare.

Select the two documents in the Results table.
If you want to compare files from documents that are difficult to find with a single search, see the Compare files attached to documents from different search results using the Pinboard steps, below.

Click Actions
> Compare Documents.

If a list of files appears, all the retrieved results are returned in pages in the Select a file to view window. Select the two files you want to compare.
The two files appear side by side in the browser.

Then, use the slider to change how transparent each file is in relation to the other.

Print one of the files
Click the file name tab, for example:
Then, click Print
, and select the options for printing the file.
You can use the tools on the bottom toolbar to interact with the fileāturn layers on and off, pan, zoom, and so forth.

A combined version of the files appears. The first page is an added report about what was compared and how the differences are marked inline.

In the top toolbar, choose which changes you are interested in. Then, click the forward and back arrows to move from one change to the next.
Save a copy of one of the files
Click the file name tab, for example:
Then, click the Publish menu, select the file type and options you want.
Print the comparison file
Click Print
, and select the options for printing the file.
Compare files attached to documents from different search results using the Pinboard
If the files you want to compare are attached to documents that are difficult to find with a single search, you can use the Pinboard to compare them.

Search for each document, and select it in the Results table.

Click Actions
> Add to Pinboard.

Click Pins
, and click View in Grid.

Select the two documents in the grid.

Click Actions
, and choose either Compare Documents or Compare Documents as Text.
