This functionality was modified in an update. For more information, see Configure display items for related objects in create and update forms (modified in an update).

You can configure a display item with a relationship definition so that any related objects display in a grid or display as chips in the object Create and Update forms.

You can do this by expanding the list in the Display Item Display Type option in the Display Item details section in the form and selecting Relationship Maintenance display type. This displays any related items in a grid at the bottom of the form, or Relationship Filter display type, which displays the added results as individual chips. When multiple display items are configured in this way, the different object types are shown in separate tabs at the bottom of the form.

This only displays related objects in the object create and update forms. Other display types listed in the Display Item Display Type box display relationships differently depending on the type of display required, such as a list box or combo box, and so on.

Relationship maintenance

1: The display item type creates tabs on the dialog boxes to display the relationships.

2: The search box uses the target object's name as the default filter to populate the values. Select Advanced Search to open the advanced search window as shown below.

3: The added results are displayed in a grid layout. Each row in the grid can be managed independently. The columns on the grid are derived from SPFRelDefEnd1ColumnSet, SPFRelDefEnd2ColumnSet, or SPFEdgeDefColumnSet related to the display item.

SHARED Tip To review and update the column set defined on the above relationships:

  1. In the Web Client, right-click the relationship definition or the edge definition.

  2. Select Update.

  3. Review or update

    • RelDef End1 ColumnSet property for SPFRelDefEnd1ColumnSet

    • RelDef End2 ColumnSet property for SPFRelDefEnd2ColumnSet

    • EdgeDef Display ColumnSet property for SPFEdgeDefColumnSet

4: FILTER - Using the filters available, you can further refine the search results. By default, Name and Description filters along with the column items configured on the relationship definition or edge definition column set (SPFRelDefEnd1ColumnSet, SPFRelDefEnd2ColumnSet, or SPFEdgeDefColumnSet) appear in the filters.

SHARED Tip To review and update the filter column set defined on the display item:

  1. In the Web Client, right-click the display item.

  2. Select Manage Filter Column Set.

Relationship filter

1: The search box uses the target object's name as the default filter to populate the values. Click Advanced Search to open the advanced search window as shown below.

2: The added results are displayed as chips, which can be managed independently.

3: The context information can be viewed by clicking on the object (chip) and is configurable through the class definition display column set. To configure the column items, you need to relate the column set to the object with SPFClassdefDisplayColumnSet.

Advanced search

Relationship filter modal changes (pin groups)

1: By default, the filter options and the results grid are visible. Click to switch OFF the filter options. Click to switch OFF the grid view.

2: The search box can be used to further refine the search results.

3: Use Pin Groups to view the items you have pinned to the pins lists, and include them in the search results.

4: Using the filters available, you can further refine the search results. To configure additional filters, you need to create a column set and relate the column set to this display item with SPFDisplayItemFilterColumnSet. Each column item in the column set acts as a filter.

5: You can use this option to select all the objects across the pages. However, only the top 200 objects are selected at any given time.

6: Switch ON this button to view only the selected items in the grid. You can select the objects by using different search criteria, and the selected items are cached in the current view. There is also a counter next to the button that indicates the number of selected items.

7: The added results are displayed in a grid layout. Previously added items are also shown but are not available for selection. Each row in the grid can be managed independently. The columns on the grid are derived from SPFRelDefEnd1ColumnSet, SPFRelDefEnd2ColumnSet, or SPFEdgeDefColumnSet related to the display item.
