The SmartPlant Schema Component and SmartPlant Client components are required on any client workstation using engineering tools that are built on the COM platform and that will participate in an integrated environment.

You can install the software in silent mode, which requires no user interaction as the software installs. For more information, see Installing the Software in Silent Mode.

  1. From the SmartPlant Foundation installation DVD, navigate to the ..\SmartPlant Foundation\SmartPlant folder, and then double-click SPCLCom_setup.exe.

    If you have previously installed Schema Component, the software prompts you to remove the older version of the Schema Component before installing the new version. After you uninstall the older version, rerun SPCLCom_setup.exe.

    SHARED Tip SmartPlant can also be installed within the SmartPlant Foundation setup.

    • Click Additional Software in the Welcome window of the SmartPlant Foundation installation.

    • Click SmartPlant Client and Schema Component setup.

    • In the Select Features to Install section, select the required components to install.

    • SmartPlant Schema Component - Installs a set of components used by the tool adapters to read the SmartPlant schema, to create data for publish, and to retrieve data.

    • SmartPlant Client - Installs a set of components that provide the client-side services of SmartPlant, including the common user interface that manages communications between an application and the SmartPlant server. This component is only required for integration. SmartPlant Schema Component is a prerequisite for this component.

  2. If you select SmartPlant Client to install, you can expand that node and choose to install the Integration Schema Files. These files are optional.

    If you select the Integration Schema Files option, copies of the integration schema files are placed in the following location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intergraph\EFSchema. The integration schema files, which include the component schemas for all the configurations defined in the delivered CMF file, are used for file mode operations.

  3. To change the installation path for SmartPlant Client, click SmartPlant Client to expand it and enter the path where the software is to be installed.

  4. Click Install.

  5. Click Finish when the installation is complete.

In order to uninstall Schema Component when it is installed on the same machine as SmartPlant Foundation, you must always uninstall SmartPlant Foundation before uninstalling Schema Component.
