Purpose

This section explains how to define the BOM setup when starting a new project in Smart Materials Web.

Exercise

  1. Open the List Status screen from the Bill of Materials > Setup.

  2. Enter the new list status name ’00-DEF’ in the List Status field and the description ‘Default’ in the Short Desc and Description fields.

    Set Delete and Overwrite to Yes.

    Lock check must be set to No.

    Create the other list statuses as displayed in the following image.

  3. Save the new list statuses and then navigate to Administration > Global Setup > Project Defaults, select the project default ZB_LST_ID on the Bill of Materials, and assign the list status 00-DEF, using the LOV in the Value field.

  4. Save the changes and then open the Issue Status from the Bill of Materials > Setup.

  5. Enter the sequence number '10' in the Seq field, the new issue status name ’01’ in the Issue Status field, and the description ‘1st MTO’ in the Short Desc and Description fields. Save the changes.

    In the same way, create the other issue statuses as displayed in the following image.

  6. Open Project Defaults select the project default ZB_STAT_ID on the Bill of Materials tab, and assign the issue status ESTIMATE, using the LOV in the Value field.

  7. Save the changes, and then open the Node Types and Settings screen from Bill of Materials > Setup.

  8. Enter the node type ‘DISC’ in the Name field and the description ‘Discipline’ in the Short Desc and Description fields. Click the button to open the LOV in the Description Rule field. Select $Type from the list and click OK. Enter a colon (:) after that. Then click the button again, select $Name, and click OK.

  9. In the same way, create the other node types as displayed in the following image.

  10. Save the changes, and then select the node type SHEET, click into the Seq field on the Assigned Properties tab, and insert 1.

    Move to the Property field and click the button and select SHEET from the list and click OK.

    Click into the Seq field of the second record and insert 2.

    Move to the Property field, and click the button and select SHOP from the list and click OK. You have assigned two properties to node type SHEET.

  11. Save the changes, and then open the Node-Type Hierarchy screen from the Bill of Materials > Setup.

  12. Click the button and select DISC from the list and click OK. Don’t enter anything in the Parent Node Type field.

  13. Save the changes, and then click into the Node Type field of the second record, click the button, select UNIT from the list, and click OK. Click into the Parent Node Type field and click the button and select DISC from the list and click OK. You have defined DISC as a parent of UNIT.

  14. Save the changes, and then proceed in the same way with the node types LINE and SHEET as displayed in the following image.

  15. Open the Position Properties screen from the Bill of Materials > Setup.Use the button and select PIPING from the list. And click Go.

  16. Click into the Seq field of the second (Assigned Properties) grid and insert 1.

    Move to the Property grid and click the button and select SFI from the list and click OK.

    Set Mandatory indicator to No.

    Proceed in the same way with the properties INS-TYPE and COMPONENTTYPE as displayed in the picture below.

  17. Save the changes, and then open the Bill of Materials > BOM User Views screen.Click the button and select ‘PIPING’ in the Discipline Code field. Click Go.

    Click into the Seq field of the second (Properties) grid and insert 1.

    Move to the Property field, click the button and then select SHEET from the list. Click OK, and then Save.

    Proceed in the same way with the properties SHOP, CG_GROUP_CODE, PART_CODE, COMMODITY_CODE, and IDENT_CODE as displayed in the following image.
