When installing Smart Licensing Client, the following message appears.

ERROR_INSTALL_FAILURE (80070643) A fatal error occurred during installation.


Try one or more of the following:

  • Reboot the computer, and try to install Smart Licensing again.

  • Look in the Event Viewer for any SQL errors. If there are SQL errors, it might mean that Microsoft SQL Server LocalDB is not working correctly. Download and install SQL LocalDB from the Microsoft Download Center. Then, try to install Smart Licensing Client again.

  • During the installation process, ensure the specified .cci file is not deleted.

  • When you install the software, you can check for any errors in the MSI installation log files, located in the %TEMP% folder.
