Defines the properties of the active database.
General Tab
Name
Displays the name of the database. The information is read only and cannot be modified using the Properties dialog.
Type
Specifies the type of database. Select Specification or Catalog.
Standard
Specifies the standard. In the list, select ANSI or DIN (both standards are delivered with the software). If you have previously defined a standard, it will also display in the list. You can also type a new standard in the box.
Units
Specifies units of measure for the following:
Default Bore
Specifies the default bore units as inches (in) or millimeters (mm). Bore units are stored for each material in the material database. The database can include materials with bores expressed in imperial or metric units.
Length
Specifies the unit of measure for length in inches (in) or millimeters (mm). Length units are stored on the local machine and not in the Information table.
Weight
Specifies the unit of measure for weight in pounds (lb) or kilograms (kg). You can use only one unit of measure per database.
Bolt Length
Specifies the unit of measure for bolt length in inches (in) or millimeters (mm). You can use only one unit of measure per database.
Bolt Diameter
Specifies the unit of measure for bolt diameter in inches (in) or millimeters (mm). You can use only one unit of measure per database.
Item code text map
Displays the current item code text map. The information is read only and cannot be modified using the Properties dialog.
Description text map
Displays the current description text map. The information is read only and cannot be modified using the Properties dialog.
You must use the Text Map Manager to edit text map data. See Text Maps.
Custom Tab
You use the Custom tab to define as many user-defined properties as are necessary and save them to the Information table.
Name
Specifies the name of the property.
Value
Specifies a value for the property.
System Tab
Database version
Displays the version number of the database, which corresponds to the version number of the Reference Data Template database.
Alternative name
Specifies a user-defined name for the database. The name you specify has no impact on the database name as displayed on the General tab. It is user information only.
File attributes
Determines how the database can be viewed or whether it can be edited.
Read only
Enables the file to be viewed but not modified in any way.
Hidden
Hides the file from view under normal operation.
System
Tags the file as a system file.
Archive
Tags the file as one that is used for backup (or archiving). Each time the software modifies the database, the archive bit is marked. The Archive attribute is useful for incremental backups.
