Provides options for creating and managing filters.

Filter Tab

Name

Type a name for the new filter.

Naming a filter is necessary only if you intend to save the filter definition on the local computer for future use. If you prefer, you can create filter definitions and apply them to the current database on an ad hoc basis.

Clear

Clears the contents of the tree view.

More

Opens the More Filters dialog box which displays a list of previously saved filters. Using this dialog box, you can rename a filter, delete a filter, or open a filter within the Filter Builder and edit its data and clauses.

Save

Saves the filter as a .xml file on the local computer.

Tree view

Displays the filter in a tree view format. The topmost node in the filter displays the filter name. The nodes underneath display the various filter clauses, property, attribute, or bore, that make up the filter. Property filter clauses display in the tree view with the icon. Attributes display with the icon. Bores display with the icon.

Property Tab

Property name

Select the property type on which wat to filter. You can filter on the following properties: ItemGroup, ComponentType, ItemCode, Description, SKEY, and Configuration.

Equals

Type or select the search criteria. When you select ItemGroup, ComponentType or Configuration in the Property name list, the software populates the Equals box with a list with all available values. When you select ItemCode, Description, or SKEY, you must type the data directly into the Equals box. You can use standard wildcards, such as * for multiple characters and ? for a single character.

Add

Adds the property filter clause to the current filter. You can add the same property type multiple times but with different values to create an OR statement. Likewise, you can add different property types to create an AND statement. The software updates the tree view to reflect the property filter clauses.

Update

Updates the property filter clause with any changes. The software also updates the tree view to reflect the information.

Delete

Removes the property filter clause from the current filter. The software also updates the tree view to reflect the information.

Attribute Tab

Attribute name

Select the attribute on which to filter. You can filter on the following standard attributes: Standard, Material, Weight, Rating, and Schedule, as well as all user-defined attributes. To determine which attributes are applicable to which component types click Data to open the Material Data Browser.

Equals / To

Type range of values for the search criteria. You can use standard wildcards, such as * for multiple characters and ? for a single character. If you do not want to specify a range, leave the To box empty.

Adds the attribute filter clause to the current filter. You can add the same attribute type multiple times but with different values to create an OR statement. Likewise, you can add different property types to create an AND statement. The software also updates the display of the definition in the tree view.

Updates the attribute filter clause with the necessary changes. The software also updates the display of the definition in the tree view as needed.

Delete

Removes the attribute filter clause from the current filter. The software also updates the display of the definition in the tree view as needed.

Bore Tab

Bore name

Select the bore on which to filter. Only the Stick Diagram Mode bore names are listed--Run_1, Run_2, End_1, and End_2. If you are unsure as to which bore to use, click Data to open the Material Data Browser.

Equals / To

Type range of values for the search criteria. You can use standard wildcards, such as * for multiple characters, and ? for a single character. If you do not want to specify a range, leave the To box empty.

Adds the bore filter clause to the current filter. You can add the same bore type multiple times but with different values to create an OR statement. Likewise, you can add different bore types to create an AND statement. The software also updates the display of the definition in the tree view.

Update

Updates the bore filter clause with the necessary changes. The software also updates the display of the definition in the tree view as needed.

Delete

Removes the bore filter clause from the current filter. The software also updates the display of the definition in the tree view as needed.

Common Options

The following options are available on all of the Filter Builder dialog box tabs.

Apply Filter

Applies the current filter to the current database.

Close

Closes the Filter Builder dialog box.

Turn ON/OFF Filter

Toggles the current filter on and off for the current database.

Data

Opens the Material Data Browser which gives you an overview of the properties and attributes of any material. For more information about the Material Data Browser, see Material Data Browser.
