You use the Strip Files dialog box to specify the items to remove and to specify an output location where the software is to store the stripped files after processing. You can then save the settings to a configuration file for future use.

  1. On the File Set tab in the Main window, select the files to process.

  2. Click Data Stripper Data Stripper. Alternatively, click Tools > Data Stripper.

The software opens the Strip Files dialog box.

  3. Use the Settings list to select the items to be stripped out of the selected files:

    • To remove an item during processing, select its checkbox. Clear the checkbox to keep the item in the data file.

    • The All bore between option controls the removal of components by bore. For more information, read Remove components by bore.

    • To load a previously saved Data Stripper configuration file, click Load, and then navigate to the appropriate file.

  4. If needed, type a storage location for the stripped files.

  5. Select an output file type in the File Type list.

  6. In the Label box, specify how the processing results are to be labeled.

  7. Click OK to begin processing the data files.

The software displays a log window that monitors progress. If any errors occur, the software displays them in log window. Files that are processed successfully, display with the following syntax:

    Processing <input data file> Generated <output file>

The name of each output file is a hyperlink. When you click the link, the software opens the default application associated with that file type and displays the file. If the default application is Smart Isometrics, you can generate a drawing based on the stripped file.

  8. When processing completes, click Close in the Stripping Files log window.

  • You can save the specified settings (the options that you have selected and the target bore range) so that they can be re-used at a later time. Click Save, and then type a name for the configuration file. By default, the software saves the configuration file in the Bin folder of your Isometric project.

  • Click Reset to clear all the selections in the dialog box.

  • To view processing results, click the Results tab. For more information, read Results Data.
