Define a new custom PBS hierarchy template

The following steps show an example of creating a template for creating PBS hierarchy as Plant/System/SubSystem.

  1. Right-click the checked out CMF document, and click Launch Schema Editor.

If the Schema Editor fails to launch by right-clicking the CMF document, then launch the Schema Editor by clicking Start > All Programs > SmartPlant Foundation > SmartPlant Schema Component > SmartPlant Schema Editor.

  2. In the Set Active Configurations dialog box, select the schema version you want to view in the Schema Editor, and click OK.

  3. Click Tools > Schema > Define PBS Templates.

  4. Right-click Templates, and click Create New PBS Template.

  5. In the New PBS Template Definition (EFSchema.cmf) dialog box, type name, description, and display name for the new PBS template, and click OK.

  6. Expand the new PBS template, right-click Plant, and click Add group [PBS template name] to hierarchy after Plant.

  7. Select a group from the Select Group to Add to Hierarchy list, and click OK.

By default, PBSPlantSystem and PBSSubSystem are delivered as plant groups.

Set the PBS hierarchy from the custom PBS hierarchy template

  1. Click Tools > Schema > Set PBS Hierarchy.

  2. In the Define PBS Hierarchy dialog box, click Set from PBS Template.

  3. Select the PBS template that you created in the previous procedure 'define a custom PBS hierarchy template' from the Select PBS Template list, and click OK. The PBS hierarchy is displayed automatically in the Define PBS Hierarchy dialog box.

  4. In the Identify Configurations for Instructions dialog box, select the configuration or configurations to which you want to apply the PBS changes. Select all the versions of the schema used by your authoring tools, and click OK.

  5. Click File > Save All Modified Files to save the changes to the CMF file. Click Tools > Schema > Validate > Display Results to validate the modified schema file.

  6. Close the Schema Editor.
