You use the Workflow database to keep track of the pipelines in a Spoolgen project as you process the design files through Spoolgen. The main purpose of the Workflow database is to list all the pipelines and report the status of each. To display a view of the Workflow database, click Project > Show Workflow Database. The example below shows the standard interface of the Workflow Database Pipeline Records window after pipelines are imported into the Spoolgen project.

1 - Filters

Controls the display of imported piping files. You can specify filter criteria using one filter or any combination of all the filters.

Pipeline Filter

Type the pipeline name, or any portion of the pipeline name, in the Pipeline filter box, and then click Go. The software removes all the files that do not match the specified criteria.

Version

Select the version to use as a filter. You can specify All, Current Only, Revised Only, or Not Revised Only.

User Status

Select the user status to use as a filter. Select from the following:

  • All displays all pipelines regardless of their current user status.

  • Pending displays only those pipelines that have been imported into the project but have been edited.

  • InProcess displays only those pipelines that are currently checked out of the Workflow database and are currently being edited.

  • Complete displays only those pipelines that have been edited and checked back in to the Workflow database.

Check Out Status

Select the checkout status to use filter criteria. You can choose All, CheckedOut, or CheckedIn.

2 - Status Table

Displays information regarding the statuses that are currently assigned to a pipeline.

ID

Displays the unique identifier for the piping record in the Workflow database. In many cases, the ID corresponds to the PIPELINE-REFERENCE field in a PCF (the -6 IDF record). However, in some applications, the PIPELINE-REFERENCE is not unique in the project, such as when a project is split up by area and a single line passes through more than one area (and the area is not included in the PIPELINE-REFERENCE). In this case, a combination of filename and PIPELINE-REFERENCE is used as the ID. The ID is a project setting, defined when the project is first set-up in I-Configure. For more information, see the online Help delivered with the I-Configure software.

UserStatus

Displays the current status of the pipeline. As a pipeline is processed through the software, it is assigned a user status that is recorded by the Workflow database. Three values are available:

  • Pending indicates that the file has been imported into the project but no edits have been made.

  • In Process indicates that the file has been imported and is currently checked out from the Workflow database and being edited.

The CheckOutUser, CheckOutPath and CheckOutSystem columns provide additional information about the status of the file.

  • Complete indicates that the file has been imported, checked out, edited, and checked back in to the Workflow database.

ImportDate

Displays the time and date that the file was imported into the Workflow database.

ImportFile

Displays the name (no path) of the design file (IDF or PCF) that was imported into the Workflow database.

ImportStatus

Displays the outcome of the import process. You can set the Import Status to one of the following:

  • IsogenOK indicates that no errors or warnings occurred. The POD file is complete, containing both 3D data and graphics.

  • IsogenWarning indicates that that the import process completed successfully but with warnings. The POD file contains both 3D data and graphics.

  • DirectOK indicates that the import process failed and the backup mechanism was invoked. This worked successfully but the POD file created contains no graphics.

  • DirectWarning indicates that the import process failed, and the backup mechanism was invoked. This worked with warnings, but the POD file contains no graphics.

  • DirectError indicates that the normal and backup import processes both failed. The POD file is unlikely to contain any information of value.

CheckOutStatus

Displays the current status of the file. A file can have one of the following values:

  • CheckedOut indicates that the file is currently checked out.

  • CheckedIn indicates that the file is checked in. A checked in file is available for other individuals to check out.

CheckOutUser

Displays the name of the individual who checked out the file.

CheckOutPath

Displays the location of the files when they are checked out. By default, the files are copied to the [Project Name]\Pipelines\Work folder when they are checked out. However, you can use the Project Work Folder project default in I-Configure to specify an alternative location. For more information, see Project Defaults and Attributes in the I-Configure User's Guide. You can access the document using the Help > Printable Guides command in the software.

CheckOutSystem

Displays the computer, or system, on which the file is checked out.

CurrentVersion

Displays a flag that indicates whether the version of the file is the latest one, or a superseded version. If the version is the latest one, the software displays -1; otherwise, it displays 0.

3 - Isogen Runs

Lists the Isogen "runs" for the selected pipeline. A "run" refers to processing the pipeline through Isogen. Use the toolbar to perform actions on a selected run.

4 - Toolbar

Provides quick access to commands that perform actions on the selected run.

View Current Pipeline in Spoolgen opens the piping object data (POD) file for the selected record for that ID in Spoolgen. This POD is a temporary file. If you are not working on the file, you can use it to produce drawings after checking in the pipeline. However, you must check out the file to perform any additional work on the pipeline.

View ISOGEN Input File in Isometrics displays the selected record for that ID in Smart Isometrics.

Delete All Versions of Pipeline deletes all the versions of the selected pipeline.

There must be no checked out versions of the pipeline.

Delete Current Version of Pipeline deletes the current version of the selected pipeline.

The pipeline must not be checked out.

Export Current Report creates a comma delimited file of the current report.

Delete Current Item deletes the current drawing message file.

View Selected File displays the selected file in the lower table, either as a drawing or message file.

Print Selected File prints the selected file in the lower table, either as a drawing or message file.
