Although both methods described below use the Detail Sketch Browser to place the detail sketch in the isometric drawing, the recommended and most direct method is Method 1.
Method 1

Click Place Detail Sketch
on the Place toolbar. Alternatively, click Add > Place Detail Sketch.

Select a component in the model on which to place the detail sketch.
The Detail Sketch Browser opens.

Select a style in the Style list on the horizontal toolbar.
The software extracts the path to the detail sketch folder from the style, and populates the list with the detail sketches available for the selected style.

Select a detail sketch in the list.
The software displays a graphical view of the selected detail sketch in the viewing area.

If necessary, use the Search box to limit the list of available sketches.

Only .dwg, .igr, and .sym (.sha) file types are fully supported by the software.

Click OK to close the Detail Sketch Browser and return to the model.
The software places a detail sketch identifier, designated by DSI and the detail sketch filename, next to the selected component.
Method 2

Click Place Info
on the Place toolbar. Alternatively, click Add > Annotation.
The Selection ribbon displays.

On the Selection ribbon, click Detail-Sketch-Identifier in the Type list.

Select a component in the model on which to place the detail sketch, and then click Detail Sketch Browser
on the Selection ribbon.
The Detail Sketch Browser opens.

Select a style in the Style list on the horizontal toolbar.
The software extracts the path to the detail sketch folder from the style, and populates the list with the detail sketches available for the selected style.

To re-open the Detail Sketch Browser and edit the detail sketch, right-click the detail sketch identifier in the model, and then select Edit Detail Sketch.

When you generate the isometric drawing, the resulting detail sketch output resembles the example below. The parameters for the direction and angle that are displayed in the detail sketch are defined using Isogen Configuration in I-Configure. For more information, see Configure a Detail Sketch in the Isogen Configuration Help.

A third method for placing detail sketches is also available. However, because this method does not use the Detail Sketch Browser, it provides little control over detail sketch placement. Click Place Info
on the Place toolbar, and then select Detail-Sketch-Identifier in the Type list. Next, type a name for the detail sketch in the Identifier box, and then click OK on the Selection ribbon to place the detail sketch identifier.
