    -OR-

  • Double-click the first object to start multiple selection, and then click on each subsequent object to include in the selection. To end multiple selection, double-click anywhere in the Main view.

The properties for the selected object(s) displays in the Text window as well as in the Properties dialog box (View > Properties).

Select Filters

When you select an object in the model, the system uses the default or selected filter type to control element/object selection. The available filter commands are Select Elements Filter, Select Objects Filter, and Select Linked Objects Filter. Additionally there are filters available only when you are viewing Smart 3D published .svf data from SmartPlant Foundation:

When you pass the pointer over objects in the model view, they highlight in a predefined color. When you select an object, the color changes to show that the object has been selected. You have the option to either accept the default colors, or change them to suit your viewing needs. See Configure Highlight and Color Options.

Smart Review changes the cursor icon to indicate the current select filter. A different cursor icon is available to represent each of the select filters.

Select Elements/Objects

  1. To define selection criteria, use one of the selection filters: Edit > Select Filter > Elements/Objects/Linked Objects.

Object selection displays the corresponding object surface point location in the status bar while you drag the mouse over an object. If no object is currently under the mouse, then the point is on the view plane at the center point location.

  2. Select an item in the model.

    • Use CTRL+ to select multiple objects. See QuickPick.

    • When you select multiple objects in the Main view, they are also selected in the Project Manager.

  3. To clear your selection:

  • Click the selected object again.

  • Press ESC.

  • Click anywhere outside the selected object in the Main view.

  • Use CTRL+Click to clear individual objects in a multi-selection.

Smart Review clears currently-selected objects when you use the Refresh Data command.
