Tablet Mode > Clip

Allows you to remove objects or portions of a model to focus on a specific area. When activated, Smart Review presents a 3D wireframe box that allows you to adjust the clipping area. Smart Review also supports inverse clipping that hides objects inside the clipping area.

Show me

  1. If you already have clipping volume active in Classic mode and a defined clipping area, you can continue to use that clipping area in Tablet mode.
    -OR-
You can set up a new clipping area. Set up your view to display all or required sections of the model. To get closer to the required objects, you can select the objects and then tap Fit .

  2. Tap Clip .

The 3D wireframe box displays and surrounds the selected objects. All objects outside the 3D wireframe box become hidden.
    -OR-
If you do not select any objects, the wireframe box defaults to the center of the current view, and is open on three sides. All objects inside the 3D wireframe box open corner become hidden.

  3. Tap to select and then drag a box face to resize the clipping area. To change the clipping type, you can double-tap a corner to toggle on and off the adjacent box faces. For example, you can remove one corner to change clipping from four- to three-sided clipping.

  4. To toggle between inverse clipping (hide objects inside the 3D wireframe box) and standard clipping (hide objects outside the 3D wireframe box), double-tap in the open space away from the wireframe.

  5. In the clipping area:

    1. To clip to other objects inside or close to the current clipping area, tap Clip again to turn off the 3D wireframe box display. Tap different objects in the clipping area and then tap Clip to turn on the 3D wireframe box surrounding the new selected objects.

    2. To change the clipping area to another location in the model, double-tap away from the 3D wireframe box to turn on inverse clipping so that the rest of the model outside of the wireframe box displays. Tap Clip to turn off the 3D wireframe box, and then tap the other objects for the new clipping area. Tap Clip to turn on the 3D wireframe box surrounding the currently selected objects.

When changing clipping, you must always turn off the 3D wireframe box first, select other objects in the area to clip, and then turn the 3D wireframe box back on to see the new clipping area.

  6. To turn off clipping:

    • Press and hold to open a shortcut menu and then tap Activate Clipping Volume toggle command. Make sure you do not have an object selected so that you can open the shortcut menu.

    • Double-tap each of the box faces or corners to turn off the clipping sides.

    • Tap Reset . A reset also deletes measurement, resets all tablet commands, and closes additional windows.

Clipping remains active until you reset or turn it off using the Activate Clipping Volume toggle command from the shortcut menu.
