You can open a clipping volume and rotate the wireframe to get the required view. You can use the controls and slider on the Clip Volume dialog box, or use the mouse to select and drag the wireframe on the Main view.

  1. Set up your Main view.

  2. Click on one or more objects in the Main view, and then click View > Controls > Adjust Clip Volume .

  3. To size the clip volume wireframe before rotation:

    1. Select the face or corner faces to size.

    2. Click and drag the slider to increase or decrease the clip volume wireframe size.
      OR
      Use the mouse to drag the face or corner on the Main view to the required size.

  4. To rotate the clip volume wireframe using the Clip Volume dialog box:

    1. Click Clipping Rotation to toggle on rotation.

      Smart Review displays the three colored axis lines on the Clip Volume dialog box to indicate that rotation is enabled.

    2. Click on the colored axis line in the Clip Volume dialog box to select the axis along which to rotate the wireframe.
      OR
      Select the axis from the menu list on the Clip Volume dialog box.

    3. Drag the slider up and down to rotate the wireframe clockwise and counter clockwise.
      -OR-
      Use your mouse to select the axis in the wireframe that represents the direction of the rotation; drag the axis line to move the wireframe.

      While rotating, all the faces display in white and the axis around which you are rotating displays in yellow. When you select a face or edge on the wireframe, the axis inside the wireframe clears.

  5. When the clipping volume is at the required size and location, click Clipping Control in the Clip Volume dialog box.

    The software removes all objects that are not in the clip volume wireframe from the display.
    OR
    If you have inverse clipping enabled, the software removes objects inside the clip volume wireframe.

  6. Click Clipping Rotation . to toggle rotation on and off.

  • For more precise control when resizing or rotating the clip volume wireframe, click the slider in the Clip Volume dialog box and then use the mouse wheel, the Up/Down arrow keys, or the PgUp/PgDn keys to adjust the size and orientation of the clipping volume. The Up/Down arrow keys move the clip volume box in small increments while the PgUp/PgDn keys move the box in larger increments.

  • Click the slider, and then press the HOME key to expand the clip volume wireframe to the maximum size for the selected face(s) being adjusted. If rotation is enabled, pressing the HOME key rotates the clip volume wireframe in a clockwise direction 180 degrees along the selected axis.

  • Click the slider, and then press the END key to minimize the clip volume wireframe for the currently selected faces being adjusted. If rotation is enabled, pressing the END key rotates the clip volume wireframe in a counter clockwise direction 180 degrees along the selected axis.

  • If the slider is at its limits (top or bottom position), click again on the faces or axis being adjusted to reset the slider position to the middle.

  • To expand plane face(s) to more than twice the distance, select the same plane face(s) in the Clip Volume dialog box again.
