The focus of this best practice workflow is to show how to use the Sequencer to align or schedule points of Key Frame and Display Set animations to coincide with specific ScheduleReview tasks. We are going to use the sprdemo.vue sample file that is delivered with Smart Review. This sample file comes with an example Primavera project and example Key Frame view groups. For more information on how to create and modify animations, see Create a ScheduleReview Animation, Create a Key Frame Animation, and Create a Display Set Animation.

To use ScheduleReview functionality, you must install the Construction module. For Key Frame and animation capabilities, you must have the Simulation and Visual Effects module.

  1. Open the sprdemo.vue file in the Samples folder.

  2. Click Animation > Sequencer.

The Sequencer displays and automatically shows the Primavera project, which is the active default project, and the Ground Level Fly Around default Key Frame view group.

By default, the Sequencer automatically displays the Key Frame view group selected in the Save and Recall Views dialog box (View > Save and Recall), and the active ScheduleReview project. Use Animation > Playback/Capture Settings > Common to turn on and off the display of animation types. For more information, see Common Playback/Capture Settings.

Smart Review also enables the ScheduleReview animation so the display in the Main view changes to the symbology assigned to the initial task of the Primavera project.

  3. Click Zoom in on the Sequencer toolbar to see more details on individual tasks, and click Zoom out to see more of the time durations.

Press CTRL and scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.

  4. Click Play on the Sequencer toolbar to start the animations.

  5. To make the Key Frame animation run smoother, click Animation > Playback/Capture Settings > Common, and change the Per seconds option to .001.

  6. Click Increase Playback or Decrease Playback Playback to change the playback speed of the animations.

  7. Click Set Extents to see the start and finish times of both animation types.

The gray area indicates the time block, which represents the entire playback time. As you can see, the ScheduleReview animation is going to start and finish before the Key Frame animation.

  8. To quickly change the start time so that the two animations start at the same time:

    1. Click in the time area on the start date of the ScheduleReview project.

The vertical blue time bar displays at the selected time.

    2. Double-click on the Ground level Fly Around highlighted row.

The Key Frame animation moves to the time bar and aligns with the start time of the ScheduleReview project.

  9. To change the Key Frame animation to start when a specific ScheduleReview task ends:

    1. Click Display Paths so that you can move the animation paths.

    2. In the Time Area, locate the Air Exchanger Foundation task.

    3. Click on the finish or end of the task date to move the vertical progress bar, and then double-click in the highlighted Ground Level Fly Around row.

The Key Frame animation moves to the new start date.

      -OR-

Select the Key Frame Animation row, and drag it over to the new start position. You can drag the animation when the cursor changes to a crosshair .

  10. Click Play on the Sequencer toolbar at any time to review your changes.

  11. You can create Display Set animations and follow steps 3-9 to adjust and re-align them as required in the Sequencer. The same process in moving and modifying animation start times and durations apply to both Key Frame and Display Set animations.

  • Double-click on a path to move it so its start date is at the location of the time bar.

  • Right double-click on a path to move it so its end date is at the location of the time bar.
