You can change the symbology or visual properties of display sets at any point during the animation using the Display Sets overrides in the Animation Playback/Capture Settings dialog box. For example, you can change the view from shaded to wireframe. Symbology can change as the animation progresses. Symbology can be set at points on the animation path.

During Animation Creation

  1. Define the display set to use. You can create a display set from selected objects or by creating a query that defines the objects you want in a display set. For more information, see Create New Display Set Definitions.

  2. Click Edit > Select Filter > Display Sets.

  3. Click on the display set in the Main view.

  4. Use commands such as Assign Material or Shade in either the Display Sets menu or the Project Manager (ALT+0) to define the initial appearance of the display set.

  5. Click Animation > Playback/Capture Settings > Display Sets and place a checkmark beside every rendering option you want to capture for the animation. By default, all options are checked.

  6. Click Animation > Display Sets > Capture .

  7. Move the display set in the Main view, and click to place a point where you want to change a rendering option.

  8. Use the Project Manager or commands in the Display Sets menu to set the symbology options you want to apply.

  9. Move the display set to the next point, and change symbology as needed.

  10. When you have finished placing points, click Animation > Player to run the animation.

During Animation Playback

As you play your animations, use the override options in the Animation Playback/Capture Settings dialog box if you want to turn on or off rendering options. This enables you to change the view so that you can focus on a particular display set animation as it plays.

For example, you can uncheck or turn off the Position setting. You can then select and move the display set in the Main view to another location. This causes the display set to remain stationary so that you can see how it is shown or rendered throughout the animation.
