Item mapping creates a set of relations between:
-
Data tables and assigned groups/parts/commodity codes/idents
-
Data table attributes and the standard values that are displayed for parts/commodity codes/idents/specification codes
Mapping of a value to an attribute can be done in the following ways:
-
Data table dependent mapping
-
Data table independent mapping
Data table dependent mapping helps in creating a relationship between a data table and specification item. A specification item is a component of a specification.
Data table independent mapping, also called attribute mapping helps you define a relationship between attributes belonging to a data table and components (group, part, specification code, and so on).
The Smart 3D export job first searches for a data table dependent mapping. If there
is no data table dependent mapping for the item, the software searches for a data
table independent mapping.
The search process proceeds in the following order:
idents, commodity codes, commodity parts or groups, specification items, specification headers.
