The Cover page allows you to specify the specification type, template, main material, thickness, and other general information about the specification.

The fields on this page depend on previous selections, so you may not see all the fields described below, or you may see other fields.

  1. Click SRD > XS20 Spec > XS2020 Spec Editor.

  2. Select Specification Types/Spec Header/ Short Codes/Spec Item from the list in the tree view.

  3. Right-click the specification type, and then click Open Cover Page.

  4. Click Open for edit Open_for_Edit.

  5. In the Spec Type box, browse to select a type.

  6. In the Template box, browse to select a template.

If the Template box is filled, the software checks the Diameter Series box, the Preferred Thicknesses box, and the first row of the Pipe Material grid to see that they are filled. If the Template box is not filled, the software ignores these fields.

  7. In the Design Standard box, browse to select a design standard, if needed.

  8. In the Spec Revision box, enter a revision number, if needed.

  9. In the Spec Code box, enter an alphanumeric code.

  10. In the Short Desc and Description boxes, enter text to describe the specification.

  11. In the Bolt Diameter Series box, browse to select a bolt diameter series, if required.

  12. In the Diameter Series box, browse to select a nominal size table, such as ANSI PIPES. These tables are defined on the Geometric Management screen (in Data Explorer drop-down, click Nominal Sizes/ Nominal Sizes Details).

  13. In the Preferred Thicknesses box, browse to select a filter geometric. The filter geometrics are defined on the Geometric Management screen (click Filter Geometric node).

This step is optional. You do not have to specify a value in the Preferred Thicknesses box. For more information, see Preferred thicknesses and Thickness grid.

  14. Under Pipe Material, browse to select the main piping material.

SHARED Tip The Thickness grid to the right fills automatically if you have assigned a schedule table to the material. For more information, see Material Schedule Dependencies.

  15. In the Thickness grid, edit the information as needed.

    • You can browse to select different wall thickness/material combinations.

    • If the schedules are zero, the software fills the Schedule column with the Thickness values whenever the grid refreshes, which occurs when you change Diameter Series, Preferred Thickness, or the Pipe Material grid.

  16. Under Filtering, define the filtering criteria for commodity code generation. For more information, see Filtering defaults grids.

  17. At the bottom of the page, under Spec Header Geometric and Specification Details, enter information as needed.

    1. Click Build Spec Idents to generate Idents for the specification items using the specification header geometrics or Common Spec Header Geometrics. For more information about Building Idents, refer Build Spec Idents.

To enable the Build Spec Idents button, you must do any one of the following:

      • Select at least one Create Ident checkbox in the Specification Header Geometrics grid.

      • If the Project Default ZS_CSHGAUT is set to Y, select at least one Create Ident checkbox for the logged in project in the Common Specification Header Geometrics grid.

    2. Click Show Log File to view the details from the log file generated after building the specification idents.

Due to size constraint, logfile may not display complete information in some cases. In such scenarios, you can download the file using Download Logfile link.

    • To add or delete rows, right-click the Spec Header Geometric grid, and then select Add Row or Delete Row.

    • In the Spec Header Geometric grid, right-click a row and select Open Table on the shortcut menu to open the corresponding table definition screen. Then you can easily edit the details for the table definition. This feature is available for tables of type Branches, Nominal Sizes, Schedules, Nominal Reducers, and User Defined.

When you finish defining the information, click Save SaveGrid.
