SmartPlant P&ID Options Manager Settings

You can now use specifications on a drawing in SmartPlant P&ID. The specifications are defined in Smart Reference Data server.

The following reference data settings are defined using SmartPlant P&ID Options Manager to specify the location of particular types of data. You can specify various default settings used in creating P&IDs and sharing data with other applications, like Smart Reference Data.

  • Enable piping specification validation — Invokes continuous service limits validation and automatic commodity code lookup if the Use piping specification setting is Smart Reference Data and this setting is Yes.

  • SmartPlant Reference Data plant name — Specifies the name of the Smart Reference database.

  • SmartPlant Reference Data server name — Specifies the server that contains the Smart Reference Data database.

Integrating with SmartPlant P&ID

Configure PipeSpec Settings

  1. In SmartPlant P&ID Options Manager, click Settings.

  2. In the Enable piping specification validation list, select Yes.

  3. In the Use piping specification list, select Smart Reference Data.

  4. Fill in the database information in the Smart Reference Data Plant Name and Smart Reference Data Server Name boxes.

SmartPlant Reference Data Plant Name - Project or the Product Group name of the Smart Reference data.

SmartPlant Reference Data Server Name - Node or the machine name where Smart Reference Data Oracle Database is installed. For example, if the Smart Reference Data Oracle database is installed on IN-SPMATDBSRV, with the Oracle SID, SDB2012, type IN-SPMATDBSRV:1521/SDB2012.

1521 is the default Oracle listener port.

  2. Click Database Tables.

  3. Click each database table listed in the following table.

Apply Specs of Smart Reference Data server

  1. Log on to SmartPlant P&ID.

  2. Open a drawing and select a piping component.

  3. From Properties pane, select Piping Materials Class and then click Browse. All the specifications for the connect project from Smart Reference Data area displayed.

  4. Select a specification and then click Ok.
