The following types of geometrics are used in the construction of the Thickness grid.

  • Nominal sizes

  • Filter geometrics

  • Schedules

Nominal Sizes

A nominal size table can be created on the Geometrics Management screen (in Data Explorer drop-down menu, click Nominal Sizes/ Nominal Sizes Details) in the SRD application. A nominal size table consists of NPD (nominal size), Comment, and Ctrl columns.

The nominal size table is selected from the Diameter Series selection list on the Spec Editor Cover page.

Filter geometrics

A filter geometrics table can be created on the Filter Geometrics screen (SRD > Component Manager > Geometric Management (see Filter Geometrics in the left navigation)) in the SRD application. The attributes or columns for a filter geometrics table must be added manually, on the Tables and Properties screen in Smart Materials Web (see Global Setup > Tables and Properties - Table Structures). Normally, nominal piping size and wall thickness attributes are added to create a filter geometrics table. But, if required, a schedule attribute can also be added.

The filter geometrics table is selected from the Preferred Thicknesses selection list on the Spec Editor Cover page.

Schedules

A schedule table can be created on the Geometrics Management screen (in Data Explorer drop-down menu, click Schedules) in the SRD application. A schedule table consists of NPD (nominal size), Schedule, Wt (wall thickness), Tolerance, In Diam, and Ctrl columns.

Schedule tables must be linked to the main material detail on the Material Schedule Dependencies screen in Smart Reference Data.
