The software provides you with the mechanism to re-classify or additionally classify the CMS idents to one or more classes.

Additional classification means that the ident is associated to a new class but does not get disassociated from the existing class. Re-classification means that the ident is associated to a new class and disassociated from the existing class as well.

The Re-classify Ident command is provided on the Multiple Ident View’s left header. Clicking this command displays a dialog box with the class systems and corresponding CMS class hierarchy tree. It also has the above mentioned two classification options (as radio options):

  • Additional Classification

  • Re-classification

Two buttons – Select and Cancel – are also provided on the dialog box.

In order to start the process for additional classification or re-classification, you first select one or more idents in the MAV and then select the shortcut menu for re-classification. In the dialog box for re-classification, you select one or more classes. You also select one of the re-classification options. Now, click the Select button. The software prompts you for confirmation. Ident(s) are re-classified or additionally classified depending on the option selected.

If the grid is in read-only mode (through the role), this functionality is not available. Also, this functionality is available only when the grid is in non-edit mode.

To additionally classify/re-classify idents from the Multi Ident View, the drag and drop feature is available and behaves like drag and drop in Windows Explorer. For re-classification of idents, you can select one or more idents to drag from the MAV and drop on a selected class in the CMS Explorer View. For additional classification of idents, you can select one or more idents to CTRL+drag from the MAV and CTRL+drop on a selected class in the CMS Explorer View.

Classical idents (M_IDENTS.CMS_IND = N) cannot be re-classified using this mechanism.

The Ident NLS is always re-built when the ident is re-classified or additionally classified. For building the Ident NLS, the software considers only the common properties of the classes with which the ident is associated.

The Ident NLS will constitute descriptions of ident property values for the union of properties of those classes where the ident is associated.

Also, only those properties with the corresponding ‘Ident NLS’ flag selected on A.50.01 or A.50.02 are considered.

The ident property value can exist in the database for such properties that are not part of any class where the ident is associated. Such ident property values are not considered for building the Ident NLS.
