The management of menu access control occurs in the Smart Materials application. Each of the menu items available for access control has a unique code pre-loaded into the database. These codes are displayed as a prefix to the menu item title in the software, for example, XS10 Component Manager, XS20 Spec, and so forth.
Access to menus, by a given role, is controlled by the relationships on Roles screen (Administration > Global Setup > Roles and Menus – Roles tab) of the Smart Materials application. All .NET menu codes have a menu type of .NET MENU.
Allowing access to a menu item ensures that it is displayed within the software when a user with the relevant role is logged in.
Preventing access to a menu item ensures that it is hidden from users with the relevant role.
