  1. Click SRD > XS20 Spec > XS2020 Spec Editor.

  2. In the Spec Editor, open a template specification, and go to the Components page.

  3. In the filter lines, fill in the filter criteria with the appropriate table details.

  4. Click Generate.

The Commodity Code column in the results grid shows how many codes were found, using background shading.

    • Light blue: Multiple codes found

    • White: One code found

    • Magenta: No codes found

    Commodity Code Colors

If the software cannot derive all the information for the commodity codes, the Coding on the fly selection dialog box appears. You must fill in the green shaded boxes.

Table detail values are already filled in for you on this dialog box if:

    • The table has been assigned a table detail in the filter line, or

    • The material can be derived from the material product form dependency, or

    • The Selection list LOV for the table returns only one value. (This case happens only for mandatory tables that are defined in the rule).

  5. Complete the missing details by using the browse Browse buttons. When all details for a row have been completed, the red exclamation point at the left of each row disappears.

  6. On the Coding on the fly selection box, click Build Codes.

  7. Continue working to fill all commodity codes in the results grid.

  8. If necessary, delete some rows or update some rows in the results grid.

    • To delete a row, click the left side of a row in the results grid to select the whole row. Then, press DELETE.

    • To update a row (for example, the geometric), click the browse Browse button in the Geometric column for a spec item.

  9. Click Save SaveGrid to save the specification items.

During the Save operation, the software builds all possible idents, if the preparation was done. For more information, see Prepare for building idents.

To build just the idents for a single spec item, click the I button in the Idents column for a spec item row, and then click Build Idents on the Spec Idents dialog box.

  • You can repeat the Generate and Save operations.

  • When you generate the commodity codes using the Coding on the fly selection dialog box, the software also creates company commodity codes and/or interface commodity codes, depending on the project default ZS_ADD_CCB. The company commodity codes and interface commodity codes are generated per the company commodity keys and interface commodity keys defined by the commodity rule.
