This functionality allows you to customize the view of the CMS grid according to your choice.

By default, whenever the grid is loaded, apart from the ident code, the grid displays all the properties of that class as columns in the grid. You can customize the appearance of the grid in the following ways:

  • Add or remove columns

  • Alter the sequence of the columns

  • Save the user-defined width of each column

Like the sort configuration, the customized view can also be saved as a display configuration for future usage. The functionality is called using the Current View button provided on the toolbar of the CMS grid. When you click this button, the Display Configuration dialog box appears as shown in the figure below. This dialog box allows you to select the columns to be displayed and the columns to be hidden. This dialog box also allows you to change the order of the columns (display sequence) in the visible column list.

Fields

  • Hidden: This list box displays the names of the columns that are not included in the current view and not displayed.

  • Visible: This list box displays the name of all those columns that are included in the current view and are displayed.

  • Right Arrow: Select a column in the Hidden list and click this button to move that item to the Visible column list. You can select multiple columns and click this button to move all of them to the Visible column list.

  • Left Arrow: Select a column in the Visible list and click this button to move that item to the Hidden column list. You can select multiple columns and click this button to move all of them to the Hidden column list.

  • Up Arrow: Select an item in the Visible column list and click this button to move that item in an upward direction. This action is used to change the appearance sequence of the columns in the view.

  • Down Arrow: Select an item in the Visible column list and click this button to move that item in a downward direction. This action is used to change the appearance sequence of the columns in the view.

  • OK: Closes the dialog box and creates the new view of the CMS grid.

  • Cancel: Closes the dialog box, discarding the changes to the view.

The customized views thus created can be stored for future use as a user view configuration. After specifying the view definition as discussed above, click OK to close the dialog box, and the data in the grid is loaded again. Once the data is loaded, type a name for this user view configuration in the drop-down field beside the Current View toolbar button and click the Save button. The software saves the current view as a class-specific user view configuration with the given name. In the future, whenever you choose this name from the configuration drop-down in the toolbar of the grid, the data appears according to the stored view definition, which also contains the user-specified width of each column.

Whenever the grid is loaded with component data, the last used user view configuration is automatically chosen and the data is displayed accordingly.
