The component data displayed in the Multi Ident View grid can be sorted by the properties and their values. The functionality is available only when the grid is in read-only mode. Sorting can be done in two ways.

  1. Using the shortcut menu

  2. Using the sort configuration

Using the shortcut menu: A shortcut menu is available on the header of the grid. Right-click on the header of the column you want to sort. The following shortcut menu appears.

You can choose Sort Ascending or Sort Descending. Depending on your selection from the shortcut menu, the data is sorted either in ascending or in descending order for that column (component property). Please note that this option does not allow you to combine more than one column (component property) to sort the data. The moment you choose to sort data for another column, the previous sort is lost. In order to sort the data for more than one component property, please see the Using sort configuration section.

Using the sort configuration: As shown in the figure below, this method of sorting uses the sort command button available on the toolbar of the grid. Click the toolbar button and the dialog box for sort as shown in the figure appears.

This functionality provides more advanced options for sorting the data in the grid. You can choose up to five fields of the grid from the drop-downs of the Sort dialog box. For each field, you can specify the sort option as ascending or descending as required. When you click OK, the data in the grid is loaded after applying the sort conditions as chosen.

The sort conditions thus applied can be stored for future use as a sort configuration. After specifying a sort condition or a combination of sort conditions as discussed above, click OK and the data in the grid is loaded again. Once the data is loaded, type a name for this sort configuration in the drop-down field beside the Sort toolbar button and click the Save button. The software saves the current sort condition as a class-specific sort configuration with the given name. In the future, whenever you choose this name from the sort configuration drop-down in the toolbar of the grid, the data is sorted according to the stored condition.

Whenever the grid is loaded with component data, the last used sort configuration is automatically chosen and the data is sorted according to the conditions of that sort configuration.
