You can define one or more class systems using the following command:

CMS > XC10 Manage Class Systems > XC1010 Create Class Systems

The shortcut menu in the grid allows you to manage class systems.

The grid contains the following columns.

  • Class System Code: Enter the name of the class system.

  • Revision: Enter the revision number.

  • Short Desc: Enter a short description for the class system.

  • Description: Enter a detailed description for the class system.

  • Max Char Length: Enter the maximum character length for the short description, description, and keywords for the class system.

  • MAV Max. Column Width: Enter the maximum column width for the Multiple Ident View column display.

    The Multiple Ident View was originally called Multiple Article View (MAV).

  • Node Label Display Options: Select an option to specify how the node labels appear in the CMS classification tree. You can select Class Code, Class Code and Description, or Class Code and Short Description from the Selection list LOV for this field. The default value for this field is Class Code and Short Description.

    • Class Code: Select this option to display only class codes in the CMS classification tree.

    • Class Code and Description: Select this option to display the class code and description in the CMS classification tree.

    • Class Code and Short Description: Select this option to display the class code and short description in the CMS classification tree.

  • Attribute Data Display Option: Select a data display option for attribute data in the Multiple Ident View. The default value for this field is Attribute Value. For more information, see Multiple Ident View.

  • Table Data Display Option: Select a data display option for table data in the Multiple Ident View. The default value for this field is Short Description.

  • Display Property Code: Select the check box if the property code should appear in the column label in the Multi Ident View. Clear the check box if the property code should not appear in the column label in the Multi Ident View. By default, this box is selected when a class system is added.

  • Type Mapping: Select the check box if type mapping will be created for the class system. If this check box is selected, the software associates a default type mapping to classes when the classes are created for this class system.

    To create the default type mapping, the following values must be provided:

    • A default value must be assigned to the project default ZX_DFPIMCC on the A.20.12 screen.

    • A default value must be assigned to the project default ZX_CMS_ITY.

  • Part: The commodity part linked to the class system is displayed.

  • Group: This is the commodity group of the commodity code that is assigned to ZX_DFPIMCC. The commodity group of the commodity part linked to the class system is displayed.

  • Part Short Description: The short description of the commodity part is displayed.

  • Part Description: The description of the commodity part is displayed.

Grid Toolbar Buttons: In order to operate on the data displayed in the grid, you can click one of the buttons provided on the grid toolbar. The main buttons and their operations are as given below –

  • Edit Mode: On click, this will set the grid for edit operation. If you want to add / modify / delete data, click this button first.

    Whenever a grid is in edit mode, you cannot close the window. If you try to close the window, a notification message appears.

  • Read-only Mode: By default, the grid appears in read-only mode. After edit operations are done and you have saved your data, click this button to set the grid again in read-only mode. Please note that when grid is in edit mode, all other controls will be disabled; those controls are enabled again when you set the grid in read-only mode by clicking this button. Do not close the window when the grid is in edit mode; all the menu options will remain in a locked condition.

  • Add Row: Click this button to add a blank row in the grid to create a new record. When a new row is added, the Node Label Display Options, Attribute Data Display Option, and Table Data Display Option columns are automatically filled with their default values. The Display Property Code box is selected.

  • Check Grid: Once you are done with your modifications in the grid, you can click this button to evaluate any possible errors in the data before you save.

  • Save: Save the modifications done in the grid data.

  • Sort: Click this button to define a sort condition for the grid data.

  • Filter: Click this button to define a filter condition for the data displayed in the grid.

Grid Shortcut Menu: The following options are available when you select a row and click the right mouse button.

  • Copy: Copies the selected row in the grid.

  • Paste: Pastes the row previously selected in the currently selected row.

  • Add Row: Similar to adding a row, this button adds a blank row below the selected row, setting the grid in edit mode if not already set.

  • Duplicate Row: Creates a new row copying all values from the current row, and sets the grid in edit mode if not already set.

  • Delete: Deletes the row selected in the grid. You cannot delete a class system with classes. All the classes must be deleted first to delete the class system. The following message appears if you try to delete a class system with classes.

  • Bulk Edit: This option has two sub options: Classes and Keywords.

    • Classes: Edits the classes in the selected class system. For more information, see Bulk edit classes.

    • Keywords: Edits the keywords for the classes in the selected class system. For more information, see Bulk edit keywords.
