Ident rules specify the composition of ident codes, similar to how commodity rules specify the composition of commodity codes.

  1. Click SRD > XS10 Component Manager > XS1010 Commodity/Ident Management.

  2. In the drop-down list on the left, select Commodity Rules.

  3. Double-click a commodity rule.

  4. At the top, click Ident Attributes.

  5. On the Ident Key for Rule tab, click Edit grid EditGrid.

  6. Click on the left side of the grid to display a list of types for the ident rule.

  7. Drop the various types on the grid.

SHARED Tip Use the Count value to set the number of times the type will appear in the grid after a drag and drop operation.

  8. Click Save grid SaveGrid.

  9. Click Read-only grid ReadOnly.

  • An ident rule can be validated by setting the ZS_ITA_CHK project default to Y. The following validations are performed:

    • The Commodity Code and Tag Number types are always included in the ident key for rule.

    • The sizes, outputs, and attributes are selected in sequence only. For example, you can include Size 2 only after including Size 1 in the ident rule.

    • A commodity code (for example, CC1) is built with a commodity code rule (for example, R1). An object (for example, O1) is associated with the same commodity code (CC1). If object O1 has five inputs, the ident rule (corresponding to R1) must have all five sizes (Size 1-5).

  • The digits in the Unique Key field comprise a Logical Unique Key (LUK). The order of the columns in the LUK is specified by the Ident Digit Id field. There can be more than one LUK defined for the rule for an ident code. Logical Unique Keys are validated before the software updates ident codes.
