You use Project Import to import the 3D design data generated by Intergraph Smart 3D Managed Export. The exported package contains a file folder structure with multiple XML files. The root folder includes an Assembly XML file. This XML file is the master file of the package.

The steps performed during the import process are listed below. Some of these steps are performed directly in Project Import, whereas other steps are performed as background processes.

  1. Initialized

During this step, the system copies the import files to the server. The system also performs basic XML validation, such as verifying that the XML structure must be correct.

  2. Validated

During this step, the system validates the plate, profile, and assembly XML files in greater detail. For example, the system verifies that all attachment files and all articles are available and that the specified macros are valid. The results of the Validation step are written to the Import log. The system assigns each imported item one of the following statuses:

    • Inserted indicates that the item was imported for the first time without any errors.

    • Updated indicates that the item has been previously imported and has been re-imported without errors.

    • Deleted indicates that the item has been previously imported but is not included in the current import.

    • Error indicates that the item has problem(s) that must be resolved in the design system. For example, the system reports a missing geometry file as an error. Errors prevent finalization.

    • Warning indicates that the item has problem(s) that should be investigated by the user. For example, the system reports incorrect bevel parameters as a warning. Warnings do not prevent finalization.

  3. Finalized

During this step, the system imports the geometries and inserts the imported items into database. When this step is complete, all the imported items are visible in other modules (such as, Order Input).

When the import process is complete, the Project Import window displays the results.

  • The Imports list shows all imports. You can use the Search tool to filter the list by project number, assembly path, or import status.

  • The Import Log lists displays all imported items. Items are grouped and color-coded by status:
