Click Bridge Bridge ICON to display the Insert Bridges options, and then click Auto Bridging to display the options and parameters for automatic bridging (see below) in the State Manager.

Bridge Maximum Length

Specifies the maximum distance between parts to allow bridge placement.

Distance from corner

Specifies the minimum distance of a bridge from a part corner.

Distance from technology

Specifies the distance between the bridge and other technology objects, such as ridges and corner loops.

Add to previous bridged chain

Adds bridges to parts that are already bridged.

Snap options

Defines how the software calculates part shapes and the bridge connection between the parts. You must select at least one snap option If you select both snap options, the software uses Normal snap first. The software tries to bridge any parts that were not bridged using Offset snap.

Normal snap

Calculates the bridge location using the minimum rectangles of the parts to connect. The software then inserts the bridge between the middle of the rectangles. This method is faster than Offset snap. We recommend that you use Normal snap only when most of the nested parts are rectangular or circular.

Offset snap

Calculates the bridge location using the exact part shapes and the part offsets. This method is more time consuming than Normal snap, but gives better results when you are working with more complex nested parts.

Bridge parts in holes with holes

Bridges parts inside a hole to the contour of the hole. The figure below, Bridge parts in holes with holes is selected in the example on the left. The software bridged the top left part to the contour of the hole. The option is cleared in the example on the right.

Bridge bevel parts

Enables you to add bridges to bevel parts.

Actions

Run automatic bridging

Creates bridges automatically to each location the parameter values allow.

To use Automatic Bridging:

  1. Click Bridge Bridge ICON on the Technology tab.

  2. Click Auto Bridging .

  3. Define the parameter values for automatic bridging. At a minimum, define the Bridge Maximum Length and select either Normal snap or Offset snap.

  4. Click Run Automatic Bridging .

To use Semi Automatic Bridging:

  1. Perform steps 1 through 3 from the procedure above.

  2. Drag a bounding outline around the parts to bridge, as shown below.

  3. Click Run Automatic Bridging .

The software bridges the parts you selected in the previous step.
