Smart Production Cutting typically uses Remnant in the nesting work area to create and allocate remnants in the nesting work area. However, you can draw and save a remnant using commands in the Parts work area.

To create a remnant and add it to inventory:

  1. Click New Part Main Menu_New Part work area ICON on the main menu.

The software opens a new Parts work area

  2. Draw and profile the remnant using tools in the work area. For information on drawing tools, see Sketch Tools Overview. For information on profiling, see Profiler.

  3. Click Save > Save As Remnant as shown below.

The Save as Remnant dialog box displays.

  4. Click End Edit End Edit_BUTTON to confirm the save.

The Add Remnant dialog box displays.

  5. Enter the thickness, quality, and article number (1 in the figure below) in the Add Remnant dialog box. These values are mandatory.

The software does not save the remnant to the database if any of the required values are missing.

  6. (Optional) Change the count of remnants (2 in the figure above). The default count is 1. You can also enter a charge number (3 in the figure above).

  7. Click Confirm .

    The software saves the remnant.

  8. Click Close (5 in the figure above) to close the Add Remnant dialog box.

Click Confirm button to save the remnant information. (figure 3.4) The remnant is now saved and you can close the window from the upper right corner. (figure 3.5)
