Rename the following dll files located in the folder paths mentioned below:

ItemTag.dll in "…\Program Files (x86)\SmartPlant\P&ID Workstation\Bin\Validation" folder.

ItemTagRes.dll in "…\Program Files (x86)\SmartPlant\P&ID Workstation\Bin\Languages" folder.

ItemTagRes resources.dll in "…\Program Files (x86)\SmartPlant\P&ID Workstation\Bin\Languages\en-US" folder.
If the above .dll files are to remain in their current folders, the renaming should
be done to their extensions. For example, ItemTag.dll is renamed ItemTag.dll_orig.
This is essential because the software will not work properly if the renamed files
and the files to be copied to the same folder both have the .dll extension.

Copy the ItemTag.dll file from the ItemTag folder "…\Program Files (x86)\SmartPlant\P&ID Workstation\SupportUtilities\ItemTag" to the "…\Program Files (x86)\SmartPlant\P&ID Workstation\Bin\Validation" folder.
For the Project/As-Built configuration, extract the ItemTag.dll from the appropriate
folder to achieve the desired results.

Copy the ItemTagRes.dll from the Resource folder "…\Program Files (x86)\SmartPlant\P&ID Workstation\SupportUtilities\ItemTag\Resource" to the "…\Program Files (x86)\SmartPlant\P&ID Workstation\Bin\Languages" folder.

Copy the ItemTagRes.resources.dll from the en-US folder "…\Program Files (x86)\SmartPlant\P&ID Workstation\SupportUtilities\ItemTag\Resource\en-US" to the "…\Program Files (x86)\SmartPlant\P&ID Workstation\Bin\Languages\en-US" folder.

When the configuration is complete, invoke the utility to configure the Item Tag format for each ItemType, which gets saved in the ItemTagFormat.xml file under the plant’s P&ID Reference Data folder.
All client computers will need the new ItemTag.dll, ItemTagRes.dll, and ItemTagRes.resources.dll
to use the new tagging configuration.
