Select the folder or rule in which you want to store your new rule. If you select a rule, the new rule appears as a sibling to the selected rule.

Select Add Rule . The Add Rule command is also available from the Edit menu or from the shortcut menu accessed by right-clicking on a rule.

Enter a name and a description for the rule. The Description box can contain links to an Internet address so that a detailed description can be stored on a website and accessed using this option.

In the Priority box, enter a priority value.

On the Items Tab, select an item for Item 1.

Select a connect point type and a placement method for Item 1, if applicable.

Select an item for Item 2 or leave Item 2 freestanding, depending on the type of rule you are creating.

Define a connect point type and a placement method for Item 2, if applicable.

Set the Comparison, Status, Severity, and Copy options on the Consistency Tab.

On the Implied Items Tab, use the options to specify implied items, if applicable.

Select OK.

Select Save on the toolbar to write the changes to the rule base.
