Topology, the sequence of elements and their connections, is critical in plant design. Smart P&ID Design Validation provides an environment in which you can compare the topology of corresponding elements and view the inconsistencies in order.

The software performs a basic topology comparison at the time of correlation. To view the topology inconsistencies, perform the following steps:

  1. Click Topology Inconsistencies.

    The design elements with inconsistencies are highlighted in respective colors as assigned in the Settings dialog box. By default, the topology inconsistencies are highlighted in red.

  2. Select the corresponding design element with topology inconsistencies and compare the list of sub-items in the Topology of Selected Element section.

    The following scenarios might cause topology inconsistencies:

    • Sub-items that are not in order.
