To make the general setup of a new project easier, you can copy setup data from an existing project (source) to a new project (target). You must be logged in with the new project (target) to copy the setup data. The Copy Admin Setup page enables you to copy the following setup data from the Admin module:

Account Codes

Approval Templates

Calendar

Delivery Designations

Disciplines

Distribution Categories

Email Templates

Email Template Sets

Early Warnings

Formulas

List Views

Load File Formats

Project Defaults

Project Discipline Defaults

Properties

Property Sets

Report Layouts

Tables

User Privileges

User Securities

User Titles

Where Conditions

  1. From the Home page, select Administration > Global Setup > Copy Admin Setup.

  2. Select a project from the Projects list.

  3. Select the data you want to copy and click Start.

  • Only the fields that are selected in the setup data will be considered for the copy process.

  • Only data of the disciplines that have been assigned to the target project will be copied. If you have selected Disciplines, the disciplines data is copied before all other data to ensure that the data of all disciplines is valid in the target project.

  • Data is copied in to the target project only if the target project has no records and the data copy happens one table at a time. For example, if Load File Formats and Report Layouts are selected and data has been defined in the target project for Load File Formats but not for Report Layouts then data from the source project is copied for Report Layouts but not for Load File Formats.

However, there is an exception. If user securities or disciplines are copied, this check is not done because these tables must contain at least one record, else, you cannot log in to the target project. In this case, all remaining records are copied from the source project.

  • If setup data is not copied as the target tables contain data, you can delete the existing data even if it is no longer relevant and then start the copy procedure again.

  • All data, including language dependent descriptions are copied.

  • You can use the Start button multiple times. For example, you want to copy the calendar from project A but the report layouts from project B. Then you use the Start button twice, once with project A and the calendar option checked, and then once with project B and the report layouts selected.
