Smart Materials/Smart Reference Data Version
2020 (10.0)

The access control for the Smart Materials Web application uses the same role concept as the Smart Materials Classic application.

On the A.30.01 Menus screen in Smart Materials Classic, you can view the menu items.

The menu items related to Smart Materials Web are labeled with the BI_REPORT menu type.

To give users access to Smart Materials Web and its pages, the menu items must be assigned to a user role on the A.30.03 Roles/Menus screen.

Assign the menu items to an existing role or create a separate role for Smart Materials Web. Select the Read Only check box to give a user only read-only access to a page, which means data can be displayed, but not modified, deleted, or created.

If the Read Only indicator is not selected, you can limit the access on a deeper level (block, field). To do this, double-click the menu item to open Window 2.

Under Application Role Menu Blocks, the access to a block can be restricted by selecting No Insert, No Update, and/or No Delete. If No Display is selected under Application Role Menu Block Items, this field is not displayed with this role. To give only read-only access to a field, select Disabled.

Finally, a user security record must be created with this role for each project that the user should be allowed to access. User securities are defined on the A.20.06.02 User Securities for Projects screen.

Activate the user security record by selecting the Active check box.

The Smart Materials Web menu items must be assigned to any role that is assigned to the user.
