On the Home page, click Administration> Global Setup> Users.

  1. Click Create User and do the following:

    1. Type the name of the User and a Password.

      • Password must be at least 8 characters long and must contain a combination of characters or numbers.

      • Whenever a new user is created, on his first login a password change dialog displays, and he must change the password. For more information on how to change password see Change password for a new user.

      • The entered User and Password are only used for native login (using Login button), but not for SSO (using Open_ID button).

    2. Check the Global Access check box to indicate that the user has full access to all product groups and projects for all disciplines.

    3. Enter the number of days between password changes in the Password Change Interval box.

    4. Enter the number of passwords to be stored in history in the Password History Size box.

    5. Set Complex Password to Yes to enforce the complex password rule.

You cannot change Complex Password to No when the DBA Setting for complex password is active.

    6. Type the First Name, Last Name, Company, Department, Telephone and Fax in their respective boxes.

    7. From the Login list, select Native, SSO or BOTH.

Native > User can only login by entering username and password and then clicking Login on the Login page.

SSO > (Single-Sign-On) User can only login using the Open-ID button on the Login page (see OpenID Connect for more information).

BOTH > User can either use standard Login or OpenID.

In case of using SSO, resetting password is not an option for Smart Materials Web, because all SSO accounts are managed by the SSO system (for example, OKTA or Azure). The Email address entered on Users page is used to match the internal Smart Materials Web account with the OKTA/Azure account. The internal account is needed to assign privileges and grant access permissions to projects and disciplines to the user, because this is not possible to be handled by OKTA or Azure. If users are created as described in this topic, these accounts are used for the AZURE / OKTA <> Smart Materials Web mapping.

    8. Type a valid email address in the Email box.

      • A valid email address is needed to unlock the native user account by resetting and sending the new password by email if native login is used (Login Options is set to NATIVE or BOTH).

      • Adding the email address is mandatory and should be unique for all records when the Login Options is set to SSO or BOTH.

    9. Select Yes or No from the Password via Email drop down list for the software to send the password via email address.

To unlock an account with a secret question and answer, select Only with secret question from the Password via Email list.

    10. Type the maximum amount that a user can approve in the Allowed Amount box and then select the currency from the Currency list.

  2. Click Create User.
