This project default specifies the rule for the automatic inquiry number generation. To use automatic numbering, you must either define a rule on Setup > Number Ranges and Rules or set this project default.

If project default ZP_REQ_DP is set to Y, the ZP_INQRULE value of the associated requisition's discipline is used. Otherwise, the ZP_INQRULE value of the currently set discipline is used.

In addition to the text, the following rule tokens are available:

  • PROJECT

  • DISC

  • DISC_ABBREV

  • DEPT

  • R_CODE

  • ACCOUNT(n)

  • ZP_INQRANG

These rule tokens must be delimited by the special character #. Text is to be entered without this special character.

The rule tokens DISC and DISC_ABBREV are replaced by the discipline code and the discipline abbreviation. If project default ZP_REQ_DP is set to Y, the discipline of the associated requisition(s) discipline is used, otherwise, the currently set discipline.

The rule token DEPT corresponds to the Department field on AdministrationUser page.

The rule token R_CODE will be replaced by the code (name) of the assigned engineering requisition. If more than one requisition has been assigned, the requisitions will be ordered by name and the name of the first requisition is taken. If no requisition has been assigned so far, this rule token is ignored.

In the rule token ACCOUNT(n), n stands for any positive number. ACCOUNT(n) will be replaced by the first n characters of the account code of the requisition on which the inquiry is based. The account code is used that is stored directly on the requisition, not the account code maintained via Other Tasks > Account Code, in case project default ZJ_USE_AC is set to Y. ACCOUNT(n) will be replaced by "if no account code has been assigned to the requisition. If more than one requisition is associated with the inquiry, the requisitions are ordered by name (code), and the account code of the first requisition will be part of the inquiry number. Only requisitions with an account code are considered.

If you want the number range defined on Setup > Number Ranges and Rules page to be a part of the inquiry number, you must set a value for ZP_INQRANG.

The automatic generation of an inquiry number is available on Inquiry > Inquiries Overview > Inquiry Details (Automatic Number button). If an inquiry is automatically created on the Requisition Workload page, this rule definition is also considered.

  • Module(s) affected by this setting: Inquiry > Requisition Workload, Inquiry > Inquiries Overview > Inquiry Details > Automatic Number Button.

  • Default Value: ./.

  • List of Values: Procurement > Setup > Number Ranges and Rules > Rules.
