The General DBA Settings lists all the settings that control the database resources and their behavior.

Columns Name

Description

DBA Setting

Name of the setting

Short Description

Short description of the setting

Add

Can have two values Yes and No.

If the value is Yes, then you can add more customized values for this setting else not.

Delete

Can have two values Yes and No.

If the value is Yes, you can delete the setting else not.

Data Type

Value type of the setting.

It can be a character, number, date or any specific value.

To edit any setting, click Edit.

In this you can set and maintain values for the selected DBA settings.

Seq

Specifies the order sequence of the setting values

Active

You can define multiple predefined values for each setting, but only one of them can be set active.You can set Active to Yes for one value only, to activate this value.

The general DBA settings are categorized into the following groups:

  • Administration settings

  • Smart Reference Data-related settings

  • Rollback control related settings

    There are several job types which, depending on the volume of data they are processing, may require a special rollback segment dedicated to them which is large enough to hold their undo information. By configuring these settings, the Databse Base Administrator can assign individual segments on a per job type basis. These types and corresponding setting names are RBS_...

  • Report-related settings

  • Log file-related settings

  • Interface directory settings

    These directories can either be configured on Administration> DBA Settings page, which means that the definitions are global and independent of projects. Also, you can configure them on a more detailed basis, that is, on the project group/ project/project/discipline level respectively. Definitions on one of these page, however, take precedence over definitions on the other page when a particular directory parameter has been set up in both places.
